MATONDO‘s new EP named „Complex I“ is, as the name says, a complex of experiences, thoughts and layers of the singer, songwriter and producer. The sometimes overwhelming complexity of life and of self reflects in this body of work, each of the songs taking you on a journey full of unanswered questions and at the same time, let you find some comfort.

From „Coco Butter Skin“, which is an ode to black women and a critic of the commercialization of their attributes, to „Hey You“, which tackles the topic of generational trauma, to „Girls Like Us“ that highlights the inhuman standards which are applied to women - all matters of urgency. Songs like „For You, For Me“ as well as „Magic“ and „Hide and Peak“ tell personal stories of, hurt, growth and joy. All of these themes are carried by bouncy basslines, the mix of acoustic and electronic sounds, paired with her unique voice.

The self written and -produced EP marks a next step in the revelation of the musical world of MATONDO.
